Buckingham Town vs Thame Town
Andrew Holland writes:
Town not good enough for Thame
After recording a first win last week there was plenty of
confidence in the Buckingham dressing room. Thame won the toss
though and inserted Buckingham in bowler friendly conditions. Runs
flowed at the from the start as the batsmen found some early
boundaries but Michael Beard bowled a good spell taking to wickets
so that after 8 overs the score was 33-2. In form player Rob Large
set about the bowling though and in Dan Harris found a good
partner as runs came and Buckingham looked set for a huge
total. After 21 overs the score was 95-2 before an 11 over spell
up to lunch saw 5 wickets fall for 20 runs with overseas bowler
Jaydeep Bhatti taking 4 for 11.
Bhatti took his fifth wicket soon after lunch but the last 3
batsmen hung around for 16 overs to add 26 runs as the home side
set a target of 146 to win. Bhatti finished with 7 for 22.
Town's bowlers were in good form and gave the batsmen nothing with
Dewayne Bowden bowling a very quick spell and removing both
openers in the first 9 overs with the score only 9. Soon after
Buckingham suffered a blow however as Leo Churms had to pull up
after 3 balls of his first over and couldn't bowl again, but when
Jason Ell took 2 wickets in 2 balls the score was 26-4 and the
game was there for the home side to win. Bhatti and Thame captain
Rob Brooks put up a strong defence though. The run rate hardly got
above 2 an over in the first 25 overs, with only 1 boundary being
scored. Just before tea though Brooks began to take control and
lifted the run rate so that at tea the score was 79-4 with Thame
back in the driving seat.
After tea the score passed 100 before the return of Bowden saw the
end of Bhatti to a good slip catch from Rob Large. Luke Merry
sealed the game though as he hit 34 from 29 balls to take the
score to 141 before being stumped by Cater off Greg Pearson, and
although he then took a second wicket the winning runs were hit in
the next over to seal a three wicket victory.

Challow & Childrey 2nd XI vs Buckingham Town 2nd XI
Bob Hutt writes:
Buckingham Town 2nds recorded an excellent 2 wicket win over
Challow & Childrey 2nds.
Challow won the toss and batted and made a steady start and after
reaching 150 for the loss of just four wickets were in a good
position.
However Matt Thatcher 3-21 saw them reach a modest 178 all out on
a damp wicket. Ben Stafford 2-35 and Ryan Spragg 2-41 bowled well
and Richard Pengelly 1-39 were the wicket takers as Challow also
had two stupid run outs.
In reply Buckingham lost Taylor cheaply but Matt Thatcher and Andy
Thatcher(26) improved matters before a middle order collapse saw
Town in trouble at 117-8. However opener Matt Thatcher 60not out
batted superbly and was well assisted by Ryan Spragg 38not out
also in good form and they took Town to victory.
