Buckingham Town vs Chase Farmers (Midweek)
Bob Hutt writes:
Buckingham Town mid-week beat Chase Farmers by 22 runs in their
friendly match. With heavy rain in the area Town were lucky to
avoid the showers and had a lovely day of sunshine for the
match. Groundsman Norman Wilby did a fine job in the morning to
enable the match to be played.
Skipper Hutt won the toss and batted and Town scored a useful
222-5 from their 40 overs. Opener Vishal Valambhia was in fine
form scoring an excellent 78 surviving an early chance. Kevin
D'Silva (41) and Callum Cater(35) batted well and Alex O'Dell
opening also did well on a difficult wicket early on.
In reply Chase put up a spirited effort reaching 200-6. Openers
B. Burton(39) and Pip Webb(65) put on 113 for the first wicket and
threatened to win the match but P. Webb was adjuged lbw and then
Town stemmed the flow of runs.
