Buckingham Town vs Challow&Childrey
Andrew Holland writes:
Town thrash Challow
After the disappointment of the week
before, Buckingham won the toss and bowled first. For the first 45
minutes there was a lot of playing and missing, but there was no
breakthrough. In the end a misjudgement from opener Hume saw him
leave a straight one. With the wicket came some aggression as the
2nd wicket partnership added 25 at a run a ball. Rob Large and
Vish Valambhia came on and between them sparked a collapse which
saw Challow fall from 58-1 to 78-6 in 9 overs. Skipper Olly
Dimbylow scored a quick 15 before 3 more wickets fell so that the
last pair came together at 102-9. Harris and Alderson chanced
their arm as Buckingham struggled to finish the innings. The pair
added 47 (the highest partnership of the innings) before Josh Nix
returned to take the final wicket and bowl Challow out for
149. Valambhia the pick of the bowlers with 5-25.
Rob Large got the Buckingham response off to a quick start with 26
from just 24 balls as he added 39 with Leigh Tomlinson. Jonny
Cater came in as usual at 3, and after a slow start soon began to
find the boundary. Cater and Tomlinson added 66 from 65 balls
before Tomlinson was bowled for 36. Cater continued to attack
bringing up his 50 from 45 balls. He was joined by Ashley Pearson
who also struck several boundaries including the winning runs as
Buckingham won by 8 wickets from only 27.5 overs.

Stokenchurch vs Buckingham Town 2nd XI
Bob Hutt writes:
Buckingham Towns 2nds drew a high scoring League match against
Stokenchurch 1sts. Stokenchurch scored an impressive 309-4
declared thanks mainly to A. Latif(158). For Town Chris Coates
picked up two wickets and Frank Johnson one and there was one run
out.
In reply Mike Taylor(25) and Nick Cadman(58) made a solid start
and then skipper Andy Thatcher batted very well for his 98 not out
mainly in boundaries. Good support came from Russell Thompson 27
not out, Callum Cater(29) and Steve Lewis(14) as Town made a
spirited reply closing on 282-4 just short of a win.

L.Buzzard 3rd XI vs Buckingham Town 3rd XI
Bob Hutt writes:
Buckingham Town 3rds drew their League match away to Leighton
Buzzard 3rds. Buckingham batting first scored 197-4 declared with
the batting highlight coming from young Steve Brunning 113, his
second successive league century, after scoring his first ever ton
the previous week. Steve once again batted superbly. It's a rare
feat to score back to back tons for any Buckingham side.
Leighton won the toss and put Buckingham into bat. Brunning
looked a talented bat throughout his innings and Alex O'Dell(30)
and Mark James(18) saw Town declare with a view to bowling
Leighton out to try to win the match.
Leighton never threatened to win and hung onto a draw at 121-9
with Steve Brunning completing a fine days work with 4-11 from 11
overs. Mark James took 2-5 and despite a confident lbw descision
at the end being turned down Buckingham were unlucky not to
win. Skipper Stuart Helps 1-35 from 20 overs once again bowled
very well.
