Bourton Vale vs Buckingham Town

Andrew Holland writes:

Bitter defeat for Town

Buckingham won the toss and bowled first at Bourton. The hosts made a steady start before 2 run outs from Leigh Tomlinson and a wicket for Josh Nix reduced them from 35-0 to 27-3 in 8 balls. Went responded with an aggressive approach, scoring 23 at better than a run a ball before lifting Jason Ell to mid off. Garratt and Lazenbury came together and put together the best partnership of the innings against some tight bowling from change bowlers Vish Valambhia and James Gear. Garratt fell for 21 before Newhook built another partnership with Lazenbury. 2 quick wickets left the score on 133-7, and then 2 further wickets on 152 before the final pair added 29 to finish on 181-9.

Buckingham got off to a fantastic start as openers Leigh Tomlinson and Ashley Pearson scored in excessive of a run a ball, bringing up the 50 from 7 overs including an over 20 which lasted 13 balls due to 7 no balls from Newhook. Lazenbury finally got the break through with Pearson caught at short cover before removing Cater for a duck in the next over. 3 overs later Tomlinson was adjudged caught behind for 31 and the game was evenly poised. Dan Harris and Graham Judd added 23 in five overs before the game slipped out of Buckingham's grasp as 6 wickets fell for 20 runs, including a couple of decisions which the batsmen were not too pleased about, to leave them on 116-9. Josh Nix chanced his arm for a quickfire 20 before he was the last man out on 139 to see Bourton grasp a 42 run win.

Buckingham Town 2nd XI vs Bicester&N.O

Bob Hutt writes:
Buckingham Town 2nds drew their league match against Bicester & North Oxford 1sts. Bicester scored a reasonable 218-10 with Dom Pritchard 4-47 and Matt Thatcher 3-69 bowling well after a tidy opening spell from Ryan Spragg 2-17 from 9 overs.

In reply Town made an excellent start through Matt Thatcher(56) and Mike Taylor(50) reaching 113 before the first wicket fell. Town's good start was wasted as a midfdle order collapse saw the match drawn with Town on 181-6 after a disappointing batting response.

Buckingham Town 3rd XI vs Oxford Downs 3rd XI

Bob Hutt writes:
Buckingham Town 3rds had a comfortable 157 run win over Oxford Downs 3rds in their saturday league match. Highlight of the match was a superb maiden century by Town's young Steve Brunning who scored a dazzling 101 not out.

Skipper Helps promoted Steve, better known for his bowling performances, and his determined efforts were impressive as Buckingham scored 254-3. Good support came from Chris Wigan(45),Adrian Johnson and Stuart Helps who each scored 34. Well done to Steve who before the game hadn't even scored a half-century.

Ten man Oxford Downs were never in the hunt after tea and were dismissed for 97 with skipper Helps taking 3-35 from 17 overs. There was 2 wickets apiece for Jack Wlkins,Chris Coates, and Chris Wigan as Steve Brunning took a well deserved rest from bowling with week after his superb batting efforts.
