Buckingham Town vs Twyford
Andrew Holland writes:
Town Win Final Friendly
Buckingham batted first in their final run out before the start of
the new league season. Both Leigh Tomlinson and Graham Judd picked
up early boundaries against some wayward opening bowling. Both
fell within 7 overs however as the score moved to 44-2. Nick
Cadman and Ashley Pearson came together and began to build a
partnership. The bowling became more consistent and the run rate
slowed. The Buckingham 100 came up after 24 overs, before spinner
Sagel drew the false shot from Pearson just before drinks, and he
was out for 35. Straight after drinks Cook bowled Cadman and a
mini collapse followed as the score slumped to 119-7. James Gear
and Jason Ell stopped the wickets as they defended for 10 overs,
adding 20. Gear went for 12 before Ell (24), Pengelly (6 not out)
and Nix (13) added 32 from 5 overs before Buckingham were bowled
out for 171 in the 51st over.
Josh Nix gave Buckingham the perfect start after tea as he picked
up a wicket in the second over. Opening bat Islam played and
missed at plenty of deliveries early on, but failed to make any
connection. Nix took his second wicket in his fifth over with a
fine catch by Judd before Ell had Cook caught at mid off. With the
score at 46-3 Buckingham turned to the spin attack of Gear and
Stafford, with immediate effect as Stafford took a wicket in his
first over. Islam continued to play his shots, reaching his 50
with a huge 6 down the ground off 58 balls. Next ball he was lbw
to Gear as 3 wickets fell in 15 balls to leave the score
94-7. Mahmood (19) and Amjad (11 not out) both tried to push
Twyford towards victory but Gear (4-26) and Stafford (3-42)
finished off the innings 44 runs short.

Thame Town vs Buckingham Town 2nd XI
Bob Hutt writes:
Buckingham Town 2nds lost to Thame 2nds in a close game with just
one over remaining in their pre-season friendly. It was a game
that served its purpose well for both teams as players prepare for the
league this weekend. Buckingham lost the toss and were inserted on
a very slow and difficult wicket.
Matt Thatcher batted very well for a patient and skilful innins of 59
being well supported by James Tomlinson(30) and Russell Thompson who
finished on 46 not out.
In the second half Buckingham had their chances to win-dropping or
missing seven chances, three of which enabled first xi player Manoj
Parmar to hit 76 and take advantage of his chances. He was finally
caught by Russell Thompson off the bowling of Dom Pritchard. Matt Le
Grice, Matt Thacher and Chris Coates again bowled well and bowled
Buckingham back into the game. However, Jeffcott batted very well
at the end to see Thame win by just 2 wickets.
