Oxford Downs vs Buckingham Town
Andrew Holland writes:
Plenty of runs in drawn match
Losing the toss for the 2nd game in a row, Buckingham were put
into bat against Oxford Downs. Leigh Tomlinson and Rob Large made
a solid start, Large particularly quick to punish any width
outside his offside. Lester Smart was accurate was accurate but
failed to have any support from his teammates with Large reaching
50 from 57 balls. For the third time in 3 innings since they were
reunited at the top of the order for this season, the opening pair
went past 100. Tomlinson reached his 50 with Buckingham on
top. Large reached his 100 as the batsman started to accelerate,
the 1st wicket partnership passing 200. Tomlinson finally fell for
87 to spinner Darrel Johnson with the score on 215. Jonny Cater
came in at 3 and kept the score moving adding 47 with Large from
just 29 balls. The return of Smart saw Large caught at long off
for a magnificent 146 from 145 balls with 4 overs to go. 38 were
smashed from the final 4 overs with Cater finishing on 33 from 25
balls to take Buckingham to 300-4 from 53 overs.
There were bad signs for Buckingham early on in reply as they
dropped a catch and claimed another off a no ball in the opening
two overs. In the third they finally struck though as skipper
Jason Ell removed his opposite number Daryl Woods for 0. 4 overs
later and Ell has Bartlett out lbw and Buckingham were
buzzing. Oxford Downs began to rebuild, but the introduction of
James Gear saw Cantrill put a short ball straight down Harris'
throat at square leg. Runs dried up and Oxford Downs crept to 80
from 25 overs when Ben Stafford struck in his first over. That was
to be the last success for Buckingham however. There were plenty
of chances that either got put down or avoided the fielders, as
Andy Buckingham and James Barrett played towards safety. At no
point did Buckingham look like losing, and it was only some
attacking fields which saw the runs flow near the end with Oxford
Downs finishing 205-4 from 51 overs.

Buckingham Town 2nd XI vs Cropredy
Bob Hutt writes:
Buckingham Town 2nds won an exciting match against Cropredy by
just six runs in their league match sponsored by Bourton Mill
Leisure and Health Club.
Buckingham batted first and scored a useful 188 all out. Callum
Cater(47) returned to form with the bat and the only other
worthwhile contributions came from skipper Andy Thatcher(36),Nick
Cadman(26) and Mike Taylor(17) in a general disappointing batting
performance.
Cropredy made a poor start losing wickets quickly and opening bowlers
Richard Penmgelly 4-39 and Ryan Spragg 3-39 bowled very well.
Cropredy rallied however and looked likely to win but the turning
point in the game came when Matt Dipple came on to bowl and his
3-17 won the game for Buckingham in an exciting finish. Town
fielded well and held their catches this week.

Great Tew 3rd XI vs Buckingham Town 3rd XI
Bob Hutt writes:
Buckingham Town 3rds drew their away match against Great & Little
Tew 3rds.
Buckingham batted first and openers Adrian Johnson(47) and Nigel
Norman(44) gave them a solid start with 81 for the first wicket
and Anant Peshavaria did well with 29 and Josh Whitehead 19 not
out and Stuart Helps(16) saw a useful total of 200-8 reached.
After the Great & Litte Tew openers had been dismissed a middle
order collapse saw the match fizzle out into a draw with Town
unable to grab the last two wicket to win as the home side closed
on 123-8. Steve Brunning bowled very well taking 4-29 and skipper
Helps took 2-22 from 15 overs. Frank Johnson and Jack Wilkins
grabbed a wicket apiece whilst Anant Peshavaria took a brilliant
catch in the field.
