Buckingham's under 15's side managed by Paul Hill travelled today
22nd July to Slough for their Portman -15's National match match
against Slough. The match had been scheduled for Friday 20th July
but was rained off.
Town set off for the long trip Sunday morning
at 8.30am knowing the match would be very doubtful in which case
a bowl out or toss of the coin would have to decide the result.
In the event, the -15s crashed out of the National Championship
after making the long trip to Slough (report to follow).
Slough batted first and scored only 78 and Buckingham failed by
just 2 runs to go through to the next round. Town didn't play up
to their recent good form and put in a disappointing display.

Playing nine games in a wonderfully well organised and enjoyable
environment the Town's teams won six of them, playing well and
demonstrating good skills in every game.
In the afternoon both the 1st and 2nd elevens played their

Town League and gained selection for the Northants 2nd XI.
At the time of his death he was a member of Northants CCC's general

Overs the past few years he helped run The Shires Park Lawnmower

sides.
We at Buckingham Town CC offer our sympathy to Janet and his
family.

Friday nights have become an essential part of the week this year
for 90 children at Buckingham Town Cricket Club aged ten years of

With the Community Coach scheme having seen children from local

in the minds of youngsters new to the game, Town's coaching

matches throughout the summer with 9 qualified coaches, 9 coaching
assistants and further support from 9 of their elders in the under

to them.
Town's numbers have rocketed to having 12 players at under 6 and
also under 7, 28 at under 8, 19 at under 9 and 19 at under 10.

and losing 8, but improving every week.
Eight of the children have been nominated for county trials for
next years’ under 10 group - four from the under 9s and four
from the under 8s. The strength in depth has been realised through
rotating teams this year to give as many as possible the chance to
learn and progress.
Parents have shown great support with barbeques on most Fridays in
a very encouraging atmosphere. Bourton road has a family feel
about it every Friday.
The children were delighted to receive their Buckingham Town CC
shirts that were sponsored by D&S Helps and WG Hill.

Top honour awarded
(News item dated April 25th, 2006)

CC selected as the Aylesbury Vale representatives.

Dogs not allowed
BTCC Ground Coordinator Andy Harris writes:
|
You are reminded that there are NO DOGS allowed on the Bourton Road ground.
This is an Aylesbury Vale directive, and quite rightly so from a health
point of view given the nature of the sport played and the considerable
number of children using the facility.
