Town set off for the long trip Sunday morning at 8.30am knowing the match would be very doubtful in which case a bowl out or toss of the coin would have to decide the result.

In the event, the -15s crashed out of the National Championship after making the long trip to Slough (report to follow).

Slough batted first and scored only 78 and Buckingham failed by just 2 runs to go through to the next round. Town didn't play up to their recent good form and put in a disappointing display.

Overs the past few years he helped run The Shires Park Lawnmower Youth Cricket League in which Buckingham Town CC annually enter sides.

(News item dated August 22nd, 2006)
Friday nights have become an essential part of the week this year for 90 children at Buckingham Town Cricket Club aged ten years of age and under.

With the Community Coach scheme having seen children from local schools given taster sessions, plus England's Ashes success fresh in the minds of youngsters new to the game, Town's coaching clinics have grown with dramatic effects.

Children from under 6 to under 10 have enjoyed coaching and matches throughout the summer with 9 qualified coaches, 9 coaching assistants and further support from 9 of their elders in the under 12 - 15 age groups who have been a tremendous help and example to them.

Town's numbers have rocketed to having 12 players at under 6 and also under 7, 28 at under 8, 19 at under 9 and 19 at under 10.

Almost all of the children have represented the club in matches. The 2006 record stands at played 17 matches, winning 9 and losing 8, but improving every week.

Eight of the children have been nominated for county trials for next years’ under 10 group - four from the under 9s and four from the under 8s. The strength in depth has been realised through rotating teams this year to give as many as possible the chance to learn and progress.

Parents have shown great support with barbeques on most Fridays in a very encouraging atmosphere. Bourton road has a family feel about it every Friday.

The children were delighted to receive their Buckingham Town CC shirts that were sponsored by D&S Helps and WG Hill.

Dogs not allowed
