The 3rd XI will again be using Stoke Hammond CC
for their home games as they did in 2007.
Rob Large will again be Saturday 1st XI captain.
Dom Pritchard takes over the Saturday 2nd XI and
Stuart Helps again is in charge of the Saturday
3rd XI.
Ben Stafford is the new Sunday 1st XI skipper
and Bob Hutt remains Sunday 2nds and midweek
captain.
Our junior section covers all age groups from U10
through to U17 and the section has enjoyed alot
of success over recent years. The Friday night
U10 sessions and BBQ's have been a huge success.
In 2007 the -10's won the Shires Plate final and
BTCC U15's under Paul Hill were Bucks County Cup
winners.
Numerous juniors are representing Bucks and Northants,
a trend which is set to continue. Robin Pritchard
was the -17's regular wicketkeeper/batsman for
Bucks -17's.
In 2007, 67 of the Club's -10's went to St. Albans
and in the morning played nine matches with the
Old Albanians juniors and in the afternoon the seniors
played two matches partly made up of the Club's coaches.
This event was a huge success and will be repeated
in 2008.
Also in 2007 a girls section at the Club was started.
We are strongly committed to the development of local
talent, with a very strong coaching structure in place
at all age groups,including the senior squads.
New faces are always welcome at the club, whether
you be experienced players looking for fresh challenges,
or younger players seeking to realise their potential.
Coaches and officials (umpires and scorers) are
partically welcome along with anyone with a few hours
a week spare to help run the club.
Founded in 1870 Buckingham Town Cricket Club are
founder members of the Cherwell League. Apart from one
year, when the club played in the Home Counties Premier
League, Division Two (West), our club has been in the,
now named, Oxford Times Cherwell League since 1973.
The major successes were in 2001 and 2007 when the 1st
XI won the Cherwell League.
The Sunday 1st XI won the F.G. Watts Cup Final in 2007.
Town's former overseas player Jeetan Patel is now a
regular in the New Zealand Test squad.
Having been picked to be a TOPS Centre for Junior
Development in 1998,selection soon followed to be an
Active Sports Focus Club in 2000 - one of nine in
Buckinghamshire. Buckingham Town Cricket Club
has now gained the Clubmark accreditation.
Each year the club hosts County youth cricket matches
and trials and also have a coaching week(s).
Off the field the clubs organises a range of activities
to suit all tastes and there is a progressive
modernisation plan in place to improve club facilities.
The Club also has a summer and winter darts team.
The club was awarded £44,275K in April 2004 through the
Community Club Development Fund to upgrade their square
and practice facilities. This work has now been
carried out.
In 2005,the club upgraded the clubhouse with A £12k facelift.
Buckingham Town Cricket Club is also home to the Buckingham
Pre-School Playgroup and Buckingham Hockey Ladies use our
facilities to host their after match social activities as
they play on the artificial pitches at Stowe School. We
also have a small croquet section at the club.
The club is also host to the Musical Minis, another
activity for young children.
During the winter months mainly, the Clubhouse is available
for hire, for kids parties, birthday parties, christenings etc.
and general functions.
